When I was a teenager, my best friend’s hotmail address was ‘sushi-burger’ it slightly made sense as her name was Susie (er…yeah). Anyway, that was all I knew about sushi until I was in my early twenties. It was probably a given, living in London and being a millennial that I would get into it. And boy did I!
In fact, Chris and I loved sushi so much we sort of learnt to do it at home, we used to sit in our studio flat in South London munching away at our own spread.
(obviously used to have to have prosecco anytime I used to eat sushi for some reason)
I’d admit when I went vegan I did think about those slices of salmon and creamy avo combo that I had got to know so well. I did wonder, is sushi without fish even sushi?
This week we visited Moga in Brisbane and they proved there is such thing as bloody good vegan sushi (and other Japanese dishes)
First off, they have a vegan menu….! That is always a good start.
Once ordered, Chris creepily stared for a long time at the kitchen, like this…
(I think he was hungry.)
Then it started to arrive….
First off Lotus Chips….which kind of remind me of Mccoys crisps in the UK.
Scrummy Vegetable Gyoza
Firework Roll… Look at all that avocado!!!!!
I can’t even begin to tell you how delicious this sushi was and there wasn’t a salmon in sight.
So yes, to answer my own question…you can have sushi without the fish.
Meat eater, vegetarian (they have a separate menu for you) or vegan – this is a must try.
